Location
The City Bothy is in Jamaica Mews, part of Edinburgh’s (actually
rather old) New Town (see map). The surrounding district has been awarded
World Heritage status by UNESCO, to mark the unique beauty of its
built environment.
Amenities within reasonable walking distance of the apartment include
the National Gallery of Scotland, National Portrait Gallery, Harvey
Nichols, Princes St (Edinburgh’s main shopping thoroughfare),
George St (a far nicer place to shop), and Edinburgh’s mainline
Waverley Station. The studio is also very convenient for the Traverse
Theatre and Assembly Rooms, two of the biggest and best venues during
August’s Edinburgh festivals.
But, if you’re feeling lazy, you hardly have to leave your
door. The nearest grocery store - and cashpoint - is a two-minute
stroll from the City Bothy. Our local pubs, Kay’s Bar and
Iglu, are two of Edinburgh’s best, while the latter also has
an award-winning organic restaurant.
We also provide visitors with a regularly updated guide to what’s
new, what we like, and what to avoid in the city.
